Our charter of service

In performing its functions and in delivering service to the NSW community and ratepayers, the RLPB aims to achieve the following standards.

Serving the NSW community

  • The Board system will work cooperatively to protect the community from invasion by pest animals and insects.
  • The Board system will work cooperatively to protect the animal production industry from endemic and exotic disease.
  • Boards will effectively administer various stock identification schemes including the National Livestock Identification System.
  • Boards will manage Travelling Stock Reserves and Stock Watering Places to strike a balance between the needs of travelling or grazing stock and the conservation of native species and vegetation.
  • Boards will operate cost effectively and apply the highest standards of accountability.
  • Boards will involve the community in their activities through an elected Board of Directors, concentrating activities on their core functions and taking a leadership role in liaison with other community organisations.
  • Boards will keep the NSW Government fully informed of rural issues and of the benefits provided to the community from the operations of the Board system.

Serving our ratepayers

  • Boards will address problems at a local level. The Board system will respond efficiently and quickly to queries by ratepayers and remain highly accessible to the community.
  • Specialist staff such as District Veterinarians, Rangers and administrative staff offer a range of assistance to ratepayers, based on local knowledge and continued updating of their skills.
  • Each Board is committed to the provision of quality service and is responsible to State Council for its operations.
  • Boards strive to include ratepayers in Board-related work. Rural Lands Protection Boards act in conjunction with local groups and agencies.
  • Boards are dedicated to the effective transmission of accurate information.
  • A complaints register is held at every Board. Each Board is responsible for conflict resolution within their district.
  • State Council is committed to monitoring the performance of each Board, looking to a set of common performance standards and measures for services delivered.
